The Scriptures

We believe in the inspiration of the entire OT and NT, meaning the words convey God's intended message. We believe the Word of God to be trustworthy and reliable in all it asserts and affirms.

God

We believe there is ONE God who exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe He is the sovereign creator and sustainer of the universe who is omnipotent, omniscient, infinite, and ever-present. He is perfect and therefore immutable, and He is dependent on nothing.

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ was both fully man and fully God, conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of a virgin. He lived a sinless life and performed many miracles while proclaiming the arrival of the Kingdom of God. We believe He suffered and was crucified as a substitutionary and atoning sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins, was raised from the dead on the third day, was seen by hundreds of witnesses and publicly ascended to the right hand of God the Father where we eagerly await His return when he will judge the living and the dead.

Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit takes up residence and works in each Christ follower, bringing both conviction and transformation that enables them to produce and reflect the fruit of the Spirit, of which the greatest is love. We believe He is the great intercessor and gift-giver for Christ followers. We do not define how the gifts of the Spirit are reflected and applied in each individual partner church’s community

Humanity

We believe God created both male and female in His image. Humanity was designed for relationship with God and one another, but sin has marred the image of God in humankind. Therefore, without the work of Jesus Christ and the transformation enabled by the Spirit, humanity is forever separated from God because of sin. We believe there is nothing humanity can do to restore this relationship.

Salvation

We believe that salvation is available to all because of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. All those who have faith in Christ are credited with His righteousness and rescued from the penalty of sin. This is called justification. Through cooperation with the Holy Spirit, those who believe are relieved from the power of sin and shaped into the image of Christ through a process called sanctification. Finally, those who are in Christ expectantly await His return so they may be freed of the presence of sin and suffering in glorification.

The Church

We believe the Church is a missional community unified under Christ's headship, constantly growing through the direction and power of the Holy Spirit, that worships, fellowships, and learns together, continually spreading the Kingdom of God by their love for God and one another. Because the church is a missional community, we believe every person has a significant role to play and cannot be idle or indifferent towards the local church. We not only encourage, but endeavor to see every person attending CharlotteONE involved in one, specific local faith community.

Unity

We believe in the spiritual unity of Christ followers and that Jesus' prayer for unity among "those who believe" in John 17:23 is essential for the fulfillment of the mission of the Church given by Jesus in Acts 1:8 and Matthew 28:19-20. We believe that without visible elements of unity, the Church's influence in the world, and in Charlotte, is not what it could or should be.

Evangelism and Discipleship

Because CharlotteONE is the ministry of several local churches in Charlotte, we encourage discipleship to take place in the context of a local faith community. CharlotteONE serves as an evangelistic and equipping outreach which shares the Gospel in a meaningful and contextualized way for 20-30somethings with the goal of connecting them to a biblically functioning community for on-going discipleship. We believe in the growth of the church through multiplication, not merely addition, and we strive to encourage the discipleship process in the context of the local church.
