The motivation of CHARLOTTE/ONE is rooted in the prayer Jesus prayed for his followers in John 17:23 when he said, Let them be ONE, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as much as you have loved me.
Although Charlotte is known as the City of Churches, we know many 20-30 somethings consider the local church irrelevant to their lives but still long for deeper connections and purpose. Therefore, CHARLOTTE/ONE acts as a bridge and connector between 20-30 somethings and local churches.
- Martin Luther King Jr.
CHARLOTTE/ONE is a 501c3 non-profit organization that is governed by a local board of directors consisting of local pastors and marketplace leaders.
In May 2006, a handful of local churches realized working together to influence and connect with 20-30 somethings would be more effective than one particular churchs efforts. So, CHARLOTTE/ONE began as a four week trial to engage this neglected demographic and connect them with Christ, one another, and the local church.
When the doors opened for the first time, 200 20-30 somethings from different denominations and backgrounds caught the vision and the power of CHARLOTTE/ONE. Attendance increased every week with the last night seeing 400+ come together as ONE to worship God and reconnect with local churches in the area.
Today, 20 & 30 Somethings attend CHARLOTTE/ONE events (Gatherings, CLTtalks, and City Events) regularly and nearly 40 local faith communities have established a partnership. Thus, CHARLOTTE/ONE continues to bridge a fresh connection between local churches and 20 & 30 Somethings in Charlotte. For more information about our partner churches, click here.

“In essentals, unity. In non-essentials, liberty. In all things, love.”
CHARLOTTE/ONE seeks to facilitate collaboration among local churches around the historically accepted ancient creeds (Apostles and Nicene) as well as a common faith in those doctrinal realities.
We believe in the inspiration of the entire OT and NT, meaning that the words convey Gods intended message. We believe the Word of God to be trustworthy and reliable in all it asserts and affirms.
We believe God created both male and female in His image. Humanity was designed for relationship with God and one another, but sin has marred the image of God in humankind. Therefore, without the work of Jesus Christ and the transformation enabled by the Spirit, humanity is forever separated from God because of sin. We believe there is nothing humanity can do to restore this relationship.
The Church is a missional community unified under Christs headship, constantly growing through the direction and power of the Holy Spirit, that worships, fellowships, and learns together, continually spreading the Kingdom of God by their love for God and one another. We not only encourage, but endeavor to see every person attending CharlotteONE involved in one, specific local faith community.
We believe Jesus Christ was both fully man and fully God, conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of a virgin. He lived a sinless life and performed miracles while proclaiming the arrival of the Kingdom of God. We believe He suffered and was crucified as a substitutionary and atoning sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins, was raised from the dead on the third day, was seen by many witnesses and ascended to the right hand of God the Father, and we await His return.
We believe that salvation is available to all because of the work of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. All those who have faith in Christ are credited with His righteousness and rescued from the penalty of sin. This is called justification. Through cooperation with the Holy Spirit, those who believe are shaped into the image of Christ through a process called sanctification. Finally, those who are in Christ patiently await His returning so that they may be freed of the presence of sin and suffering in glorification.
We believe in the spiritual unity of Christ followers and that Jesus prayer for unity among those who believe in John 17:23 is essential to the fulfillment of the mission of the Church given by Jesus in Acts 1:8 and Matthew 28:19-20. We believe that without unity, the Churchs influence in the world, and in Charlotte, is not what it could be.
We believe there is ONE God who exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe He is the sovereign creator and sustainer of the universe who is omnipotent, omniscient, infinite, and ever-present. He is perfect and therefore immutable, and He is dependent on nothing.
We believe the Holy Spirit takes up residences and works in each Christ follower, bringing both conviction and transformation that enables them produce and reflect the fruit of the Spirit. We believe He is the great intercessor and gift-giver for Christ followers.
